NOVEMBER PHOTOGRAPHS BY MICKY ABSIL

Photographer, Micky Absil, exhibits his work at The Mill Street Gallery/Cafe from November 01 to December 30, 2011.

Opening Reception: Sunday, November 6th at 1pm.

My passion with photography is with its ability to reveal the human spirit as well as providing a visual testament, especially for those traditional ancient cultures that are sadly disappearing.
For me, making a meaningful photograph is an intuitive act requiring sensitivity, concentration and a sense of geometry; a momentary convergence of eye, head and heart.

Vera Donefer Paintings August 30 to October 30, 2011

Vera Donefer exhibits her vibrant paintings at the Mill Street Gallery/Cafe
from August 30 to October 30, 2011.
"I strive to make my paintings look as if the work was done quickly and easily. I am working primarily with colour to create a mood but allowing the viewer free emotion to interpret the paintings.

I have been an artist for over 50 years working in many different media. My initial career was as a fashion illustrator in New York City. I moved away from commercial art after arriving in Canada in 1957. As colours and textures of natural fibbers intrigued me, I became an off-loom weaver and fibre artist creating many large wall pieces."

Michele LaRose Acrylic Paintings

Michèle LaRose is a painter from Kingston who navigates the world of colour with gay abandon. Her lively pieces seek to add visual music to life and provide springboards to flights of imagination. Come and enjoy a cappuccino, look at original art, and dine on local, organic produce in the historic, scenic village-on-a-lake of Sydenham, just a 1/2 hour drive north of Kingston. Cafe/gallery is open for lunches Tuesday through Saturday from 11:30 to 2:30 and for dinner on Saturdays 5:30 to 9pm. (Reservations: (613) 376-1533.) Michèle’s exhibition is up from June 29 to August 27, 2011.
